Kuudra Profit Guide: Tiers, Keys and Chest EV Explained (2026)
Last verified
An Infernal Kuudra key costs about 3.22M coins on September 26, 2026, and whether a run pays depends on the rolled drops, chiefly the Kuudra Tentacle at about 3.00M coins, plus the discipline to reroll weak chests. This Kuudra profit guide prices every key tier, the drops that swing a chest and both reroll items. Future77's reported ceiling is about 140M coins/hour with a good party. Without Infernal gear or a steady party, Basic keys at about 229k still roll the Kuudra Tentacle, for far less risk per chest.
Every coin figure below is at time of writing: key material prices were read from SkyCofl on September 26, 2026 (about 09:19 UTC), rare-drop prices the same day at about 14:06 UTC, and NPC key costs come from the community wiki. Bazaar prices move daily, so verify live on SkyCofl or BazaarTracker before you buy keys in bulk.
Is Kuudra worth it in 2026 if you are not endgame yet?
Yes. You need Combat XXII (22) to reach the Crimson Isle at all; from there Basic has no reputation requirement and only needs Elle to take you to Kuudra. A Basic key, which you spend to open the paid chest after a clear, costs about 229k coins.
Kuudra Tentacle can drop from the paid chest at every tier per its wiki page, and at 3.00M coins instant-sell on September 26 (14:06 UTC) one Tentacle pays for about 13 Basic keys. That makes the lower tiers a way to earn on the same drop while a weak chest costs you far less.
Fiyrthgu measured what the low tiers make in a video published September 12, 2026. On Hot he made about 20-25M coins/hour over roughly an hour of runs, but parties were hard to find and runs were slower, because the party has to collect cells and power the Ballista instead of stunning. His case for Hot is that keys are cheaper and nobody needs a Terminator. On Burning he estimated about 20M coins/hour in his first session, when he was still learning to stun.
Infernal is different. It needs 12,000 Crimson Isle reputation and a Fiery clear, and each key costs about 3.22M coins. Kuudra is not for you yet if you cannot find a consistent party, or if opening several ~3.22M chests that come in under the key cost would stall your progression.
What are the five Kuudra tiers and what do they require?
Each tier spawns mob waves more often and raises the reputation you need. The table is from the community wiki’s Kuudra page.
| Tier | Requirement | SkyBlock XP | Seconds per wave |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | Have Elle take you to Kuudra | 20 | 35s |
| Hot | Complete the main quest, 1,000 reputation, beat Basic | 40 | 30s |
| Burning | 3,000 reputation, beat Hot | 60 | 25s |
| Fiery | 7,000 reputation, beat Burning | 80 | 20s |
| Infernal | 12,000 reputation, beat Fiery | 100 | 15s |
The fight itself also grows with tier. Phase four, firing yourself into Kuudra’s stomach to break orbs, only exists from Burning upward, and phase five, dodging tentacles once Kuudra reaches 25% health, only exists at Infernal.
How much does a Kuudra key cost?
The Crimson Isle has exactly two factions, Barbarian (based in Dragontail) and Mage (based in Scarleton), and each faction’s Emissary sells keys. The coin price and reputation gate are the same on either side; the only difference is the material, Enchanted Mycelium for Mage and Enchanted Red Sand for Barbarian, and every tier also needs 2 Nether Stars.
Prices on September 26, 2026 (instant-buy): Enchanted Mycelium 1,618.4 coins, Enchanted Red Sand 2,105.6 coins, and Nether Star 12,976.9 coins. Totals are rounded to the nearest 1k coins.
| Key | NPC coins | Material | Rep. needed | Total, Mage side | Total, Barbarian side |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 200,000 | 2 | none | ~229k | ~230k |
| Hot | 400,000 | 6 | 1,000 | ~436k | ~439k |
| Burning | 750,000 | 20 | 3,000 | ~808k | ~818k |
| Fiery | 1,500,000 | 60 | 7,000 | ~1.62M | ~1.65M |
| Infernal | 3,000,000 | 120 | 12,000 | ~3.22M | ~3.28M |
On both sides the NPC coin price is about 87% to 93% of the key. The Mage side is cheaper on September 26 only because Enchanted Mycelium was trading below Enchanted Red Sand, so check both before you buy a stack of keys.
Keys also have a second source: since November 13, 2024 every tier of Kuudra Key can come up as Great Catch treasure while lava fishing on the Crimson Isle, per the wiki’s Kuudra Key page.
Should you craft keys from lower tiers?
The wiki lists a recipe of four keys of one tier for one key of the next tier up. At the prices above, four Fiery keys cost about 6.49M coins on the Mage side against about 3.22M for an Infernal key bought directly, so crafting upward roughly doubles your cost. It is a way to use up leftover keys, not a way to save coins.
Which rare drops actually decide a Kuudra chest’s value?
A handful of rolled drops decide whether a chest is a profit. Chances below are per paid chest, taken from each item’s own wiki page; the wiki does not give a current chance for Fatal Tempo, so none is listed. Prices were read from SkyCofl on September 26, 2026 at about 14:06 UTC.
| Drop | Chance per paid chest | Price (Sep 26, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Ananke Feather | 0.27% at Infernal only | ~33.90M (lowest auction) |
| Fatal Tempo I book | not listed | 67.15M instant-sell |
| Kuudra Tentacle | 17.50% at Basic, 8.61% at Infernal | 3.00M instant-sell |
Ananke Feather and Fatal Tempo are the jackpots, and the Ananke Feather’s Infernal chance was cut by 25% on September 1, 2026 (0.27.1), from 0.36% to 0.27%, per its wiki page.
Worked example: what the Kuudra Tentacle alone does for one key
This counts only the Kuudra Tentacle and ignores every other item in the chest, so it is a floor for the chest, not its full value. Key costs are Mage-side at 09:19 UTC and the Tentacle is 3.00M instant-sell at 14:06 UTC, both September 26, 2026.
| Basic | Infernal | |
|---|---|---|
| Key: NPC coins | 200,000 | 3,000,000 |
| Key: Enchanted Mycelium at 1,618.4 | 2 = 3,237 | 120 = 194,208 |
| Key: 2 Nether Stars at 12,976.9 | 25,954 | 25,954 |
| Key total | 229,191 | 3,220,162 |
| Chest with a Tentacle: 3.00M minus key | +2,770,809 | -220,162 |
| Chest without one: key lost | -229,191 | -3,220,162 |
| Tentacle chance per chest | 17.50% | 8.61% |
| Average Tentacle value per chest (chance x 3.00M) | 525,000 | 258,300 |
| Average net per key from the Tentacle alone | +295,809 | -2,961,862 |
At Basic, the Tentacle on its own averages about 296k coins more than the key costs. At Infernal it covers about 8% of the key on average, so an Infernal chest only pays through its other drops and the rerolls below.
Hideondra Shard (141.0k instant-sell on September 26) is linked to Kuudra differently. It is not a chest drop but a Fusion shard, and its Kuudra’s Box attribute gives a 5%-50% chance of an extra Kuudra Teeth in the paid chest.
When should you reroll a Kuudra chest, and with what?
There are two reroll items, and they do different things.
- Kismet Feather costs 1,350 Bits from Elizabeth and traded at 1.42M coins instant-sell on September 26, 2026. It rerolls a whole unopened reward chest, once per run, and the old loot cannot be brought back. It has worked on Kuudra chests since 0.20.9 on December 3, 2024.
- Wheel of Fate is a rare paid-chest drop, 1.35% at Basic and Hot, 1.33% at Burning and Fiery and 1.23% at Infernal per its wiki page. It only rerolls the Attribute Shard in that chest, not the rest of the loot. Its lowest auction was about 370.0k coins on September 26.
Our July 2026 combat trend report summarizes Future77’s Tier 5 advice as: reroll a chest worth under 3M rather than open it.
Do not treat 3M as fixed. The 3M sits just under the ~3.22M Mage-side Infernal key on September 26, so recompute it from the current key cost, and remember a Kismet itself is worth about 1.42M coins you could have sold instead.
What gear do you need for each tier?
You do not need best-in-slot gear to start. Beyond the Combat XXII needed to reach the Crimson Isle, Basic has no gear or reputation gate on the wiki, and at about 229k coins per key a chest that comes in under its key costs very little while you learn the phases.
For Infernal, the gear question is mostly about clear speed and survival:
- Weapons: Future77’s Tier 5 recommendation, as summarized in our combat trend report, is a Rend Terminator over Duplex for the boss fight.
- Armor: Crimson armor is the budget-friendly long-term pick in the combat trend report because it is upgradeable rather than capped, and Crimson, Aurora, Terror, Fervor and Hollow pieces all drop from Kuudra chests themselves.
- Healing: since 0.26.1, Flares cost 10 Vitality on top of mana and heal 30 / 40 / 50 HP/s on the Crimson Isle and in Kuudra’s Lair, so plan a deliberate healing loop rather than relying on passive recovery.
What does each party role actually do?
The wiki splits the fight into phases, and parties usually split players along the same lines. In plain terms:
- Builders fish up Supply Crates with a Lava Rod, place them, and use them to build the Ballista, then fish up Fuel Cells to power it.
- Stunners (Burning and above) fire themselves into Kuudra’s stomach and break the orbs inside.
- DPS players deal the boss damage, and at Infernal keep doing it through phase five while dodging tentacles.
Future77’s advice, as summarized in our combat trend report, is strict role specialization over everyone running a generalist loadout. A party where each player knows one job clears faster, and on Infernal, where a new mob wave spawns every 15 seconds, speed is the margin.
Did the attribute rework kill Kuudra as a money-maker?
Hypixel added Hunting in version 0.23 on June 23, 2025, according to the community wiki. Attributes now come from Attribute Shards, which the wiki lists as obtainable through hunting, Huntraps, the Fusion Machine, boss drops, NPCs and Kuudra and Dungeons reward chests, and they are syphoned into an attribute up to level 10.
Kuudra reward chests are one of those shard sources, so shard prices now feed directly into chest value. Whether the change “killed” Kuudra is a community argument the sources used here do not settle; our July 2026 combat trend report, drawing on Future77, still listed Kuudra Tier 5 as the most profitable method with a good party.
The practical consequence is simpler: any Kuudra profit video recorded before June 23, 2025, such as Import’s October 2024 video, predates Hunting and the shard system. Treat its loot values as stale and re-price the drops yourself.
Did 0.26.1 make Kuudra easier?
Yes, for incoming damage. Per the official 0.26.1 notes covered in our 0.26.1 update guide, live since July 22, 2026, Kuudra’s general mob damage is halved, Dropships and Chaosmites get tier-based flat values, and Omegagma, Wandering Blaze and Blazing Golem lose max-HP or percentage-HP scaling on major attacks.
The same patch made healing a spendable Vitality resource, and Hypixel described the damage cuts as keeping endgame Kuudra sustainable with less healing available. It is easier to survive, not free: a run still fails if the party runs out of Vitality or time.
How many coins per hour does Kuudra make compared with slayers?
Our July 2026 combat trend report lists Future77’s figure of about 140M coins/hour for Kuudra Tier 5 with a good party. Treat it as a ceiling, not a typical result: gear and party decide how fast you clear, execution decides how many runs fail and which chests get rerolled, and tier decides the loot pool.
The low tiers make far less. In his September 12, 2026 video, Fiyrthgu measured about 20-25M coins/hour on Hot and about 40M coins/hour on Burning in a later session with a good party. He called that party’s runs slow and said parties that average around one minute per run can make a lot more.
For a slayer baseline, our July 2026 combat trend report lists lace’s Tarantula Slayer figure at about 30M/hour, scaling to about 90M/hour fully geared.
Your real number depends on three things you control: how fast your party clears, how many runs fail, and whether you reroll chests under the key cost or take everything. The ~3.22M key is spent on the paid chest after a clear, so a failed run costs the time rather than the key, but every paid chest you open below the key cost is a loss, so a slower or less disciplined party can land far below the ceiling.
For dungeons, the 0.26.1 Catacombs stat boost made early and mid-level dungeon progress far stronger, which matters if you are choosing where to spend gear-building time. See our slayer money-making guide for how slayer methods compare on consistency and capital.
Should you start Kuudra or push to Infernal?
- Start at Basic or Hot if you have not done Kuudra before. The key costs about 229k-436k coins, Kuudra Tentacle is in the pool at both, and you learn phases, roles and party habits while earning.
- Push to Infernal once you have the 12,000 reputation, a Fiery clear, a party you can run with repeatedly and enough coins to absorb several below-cost chests at about 3.22M per key.
- Stay on slayers if you mostly play solo. Kuudra’s profit depends on a party, while a slayer route like the one in our Tarantula guide does not.
What would make this advice wrong?
- The drop chances change. The worked example rests on the Kuudra Tentacle’s per-chest chances on its wiki page; if those move, the Basic margin moves with them, so re-check that page before relying on it.
- Key costs change. The NPC coin price is most of the key, so any change to Emissary prices moves the break-even more than material prices do.
- Rare-drop changes. Kuudra Tentacle, Ananke Feather and Fatal Tempo carry most of the upside, and the September 1, 2026 Ananke Feather cut shows those chances do move.
- Shard or drop changes. Kraken Shards and rolled shards depend on the Hunting and attribute system, which Hypixel expanded again in 0.27 with Hunting levels 26-50. A change to shard sources or demand changes chest value.
- Combat balance patches. 0.26.1 cut Kuudra damage and Hypixel said it may still adjust damage and healing, so a later pass could make runs harder or easier again.
