Post-Update
Torrhus Canyon After One Week: August 11 Patch and Sweep Guide
Last verified · Patch 0.27.0 follow-up
One week after Torrhus Canyon launched, the August 11 patch makes its slowest grinds friendlier while the live meta has clarified one thing: Helix Trees are a Sweep check. This follow-up separates the official changes from creator observations, reconciles the old Sweep wiki with live 0.27 values, and gives you an upgrade order backed by a live-cost calculator.
This is the after-update companion to our 0.27.0 launch guide. Patch changes below come from Hypixel; strategy sections combine live item data with observations from videos published during the first seven days. Prices are deliberately left to the live calculator because coupons, shards and new gear are still moving quickly.
The short version
- The August 11 patch reduces friction more than it changes the meta: Safari milestones and Bestiary requirements are lower, Ruby Veilshroom output is higher, bird-feeder waits are shorter and several spawns, drops and UI messages are clearer.
- Sweep is the central Helix stat. Hypixel calls Helix Trees the toughest Galatea trees and explicitly tells players to bring a lot of Sweep. Tough trees convert Sweep into logs on a diminishing-return curve, so every upgrade matters early even though no single number acts as a universal breakpoint.
- The best first-week upgrade order is progression before speculation: finish permanent Heart of the Forest and milestone Sweep, then compare Miria/Agatha coupon upgrades, Helix gear, boosters and Helix Sharpening against their live costs.
- Creator profit figures are not durable price targets. Videos published only days apart already recorded falling coupon and drop values. Compare the upgrade’s cost with the extra logs you actually cut, not a launch-day coins/hour thumbnail.
What the August 11 patch changed
The patch is a broad tuning pass over Torrhus Canyon and Critter Safari. These are the changes that most affect a normal progression route:
| Area | Live change | Practical result |
|---|---|---|
| Safari milestones | Milestones V–X now need 150, 250, 350, 450, 600 and 750 catches instead of 250–1,500 | The back half of each biome track is substantially shorter |
| Bestiary | Common requirements fell from 300 to 125; Uncommon from 150 to 100; Queen Bee weight fell from 25 to 10 | Less time farming common and uncommon Safari families |
| Ruby Veilshrooms | Base yield rose from 1 to 4–8; rare Torrhus sea creatures can drop bunches and more creatures can drop them | Faster collection and more supply, with likely downward pressure on unit prices |
| Safari pacing | Bird Feeder maximum wait fell from 30 seconds to 10; several Safari spawns and guaranteed floor drops were adjusted | Less idle time and fewer confusing dry streaks |
| Water creatures | Goldolot now replaces Sepialot 20% of the time instead of 10%; Water Snake health fell from 3,000 to 1,000 | Faster Bestiary progress and easier catches |
| Cost reductions | Accretion Artifact now needs 2 Ruby Veilshrooms instead of 16 | A much cheaper collection craft |
Other useful fixes include pickaxe abilities working on Torrhus Canyon, a sound cue when the beige half of a Helix Tree is fully cut, better Reward Summary timing detail, merged Sepialot/Goldolot Bestiary progress, improved Pangolin line-of-sight checks, and corrections for Hideyho footprints and Helix beige logs. Archie is now an Abiphone contact, the Honey Guide is in /guides, and Signal Enhancers are Bazaar-tradable.
Hypixel also says unobtainable fusions and Safari Hunting XP are still being worked on. Treat both as unfinished rather than building an expensive strategy around their current state.
What launch week actually taught us
The most consistent observation across the August 4–10 creator videos is that Torrhus progression splits into two different loops.
First, Critter Safari, contests and Torrhus fishing generate coupons, shards and collection progress. Parties improve event coverage, and fishing benefited from the patch’s Veilshroom changes. Second, efficient Helix chopping is a build check: players arriving with a Moonglade-era setup can reach the island but still cut its trees poorly.
MashClash prioritized Sweep in the Heart of the Forest, then highlighted Helix armor, the Helix Chopper, upgraded boosters and the new Sweep attributes. Candypat and V1dd showed the Sloth as a cheaper constant-Sweep pet route while keeping Jade Dragon as the high-investment option. Fiyrthgu’s contest/fishing test showed why coupon income matters, while BarInTokyo captured prices falling during the recording itself. The shared lesson is more useful than any headline rate: measure logs, contest output and sale prices on your own profile before paying for the next marginal upgrade.
The current community formula helps explain why launch-week players described roughly 1,000 Sweep as comfortable, but no perk activates at that number. Helix output still depends on your method, conditional perks and tree state, and Sweep has diminishing returns.
Why Sweep matters so much for Helix Trees
Sweep controls how many logs an axe action can break. The current community-maintained Sweep page explains that zero-toughness trees map Sweep directly to logs up to a cap, while tougher trees use a logarithmic relationship. It also documents a 50% Sweep penalty on thrown axes, reduced by Missile or Precursor Drone.
The current page models Helix at 150 Toughness. Its reverse-engineered formula estimates roughly 397 Sweep for 10 extra logs, 616 for 12, 786 for 13 and 1,018 for 14. Those are points on a curve, not unlock requirements, and the result is capped at 35 extra logs (36 total). Avoid legacy pre-0.27 tables: they can contain outdated Toughness values and percentage versions of bonuses that are now flat Sweep.
Technique can erase more progress than one missing upgrade. On Helix Trees, finish the beige half before the red half; the August 11 patch adds a sound when beige is complete. Cutting Galatea trees in the wrong order applies another 50% penalty to swept logs. That stacks multiplicatively with the 50% thrown-axe penalty, leaving roughly one quarter of normal swept-log output if you do both. Use melee for the cleanest maximum, or mitigate throws with the HOTF Axe Toss ability, Missile or Precursor Drone.
The safe conclusions are:
- More Sweep lets one action remove more of a tough tree, directly improving logs and collection per action.
- Early flat upgrades can feel dramatic when a profile is below the tree’s demands.
- Returns diminish, so the cheapest coins-per-Sweep upgrade should usually come before a luxury multiplier.
- Throwing and melee are different builds. Strong Arms and Missile support throws; Strong Legs and First Impression support melee. Missile and First Impression are both Ultimate axe enchants, so choose one rather than adding both.
How to maximize Sweep for the new trees
Work through this order instead of buying every market item at once.
1. Collect profile and progression Sweep first
Max the Heart of the Forest Sweep perk for +50. At HOTF V, raise the permanent Center of the Forest to IV: its +5% and +10% rewards add to +15% total Sweep for 350,000 Forest Whispers cumulatively. Then finish Tree Gift milestones: all three tree tracks total +42, with the seven Helix milestones contributing +21 (+3 at every tier). The live thresholds are 10, 25, 100, 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,500 gifts. The current Helix Log wiki table still shows Alpha milestone rewards and thresholds; an August 7 guide records the live tier-VII tooltip at 2,500 gifts and +3 Sweep, while Hypixel’s release notes confirm the new thresholds.
Pick up Foraging Madness (+10), Early Bird (+40 on the first 250 daily trees), Precision Cutting (+10 on the marked hit), and the conditional Forest Strength, Forest Speed and Half Full/Half Empty bonuses when your build can activate them. Lottery now has a random +10 flat Sweep daily result rather than its old percentage roll.
Agatha’s Power I–V gives +25 flat Sweep and costs 200 Agatha’s Coupons in total. Fig and Mangrove Personal Best each reach +10% and cost 12 and 24 Agatha’s Coupons. Their recorded values come from Extra Collection during Agatha’s contests, but the permanent multipliers apply globally.
2. Add the Torrhus permanent upgrades
Miria’s Power I–V gives +25 flat Sweep. The five ranks cost 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 Miria’s Coupons—200 total. The supplied live tooltip for Power III confirms the rank stepping from +10 to +15.
Helix Personal Best costs 36 Miria’s Coupons. Its recorded value grows by +0.01% Sweep per 100 Extra Helix Collection in Miria’s contest, capped at 100,000 collection for +10%. Once recorded, it is permanent and stacks with the Fig and Mangrove Personal Bests for up to +30% total Sweep.
Winding Ivy is a +10 Sweep pet item sold for 250 Miria’s Coupons. Remember that a pet can hold only one pet item, so its real cost includes what you give up.
3. Build the new gear core
- Helix Chopper: +50 base Sweep. Mega Frenzy adds +1 per 20,000 Galatea logs cut, up to another +40. Five stars add +2.5 Sweep to its base for 1,500 Forest Essence total; Axed I then makes its axe stats 2% stronger for 10,000 Forest Essence.
- Four-piece Helix armor: +20 per piece, +80 total.
- Honeycomb Necklace and Veilshroom Bracelet: +5 each.
- Torrhus Belt: +2. A Mythic Safari Belt with the Majestic reforge from Morning Dew instead gains +4 (+3 at Legendary), so these are alternatives rather than stackable belt bonuses. Morning Dew costs 2,500 Safari Essence from Archie or can be bought through the Bazaar.
- David’s Cloak: its Hunting milestones remain the Sweep-maximizing cloak route; unlike the tradeable pieces, the important cost is progression.
4. Upgrade all nine Sweep Booster slots
A Common Sweep Booster gives +5 on an axe, +2 on each armor piece and +1 on each equipment piece. Applying an Uncommon Sweep Booster Upgrade raises those slots to +10, +5 and +2 respectively.
Across one axe, four armor pieces and four equipment pieces, a fully upgraded set contributes +38 Sweep. Each slot needs both the common booster and its uncommon upgrade. Upgrade the axe first, then armor, then equipment when coins are limited.
5. Choose one pet route
- Frog: +10 base Sweep at level 100; the accessible baseline.
- Sloth: +25 base Sweep at level 100, with conditional extra Sweep through Slow Start and thrown-axe support through Stronk Arm; a practical middle route.
- Jade Dragon: up to +32 flat Sweep from Mangrove collection, then +0.1% total Sweep for every maxed Attribute through Apex Predator. This scales furthest but is expensive and profile-dependent.
Do not add all three pet values in a max-Sweep total. Only the active pet applies.
6. Finish the new Attribute sources
These 0.27 attributes were present in alpha sheets and are now verified in current live item data. The shard counts are the total level-I copies needed to syphon an Attribute through level X in the Hunting Box.
| Attribute | Live level-X effect | Shards from I to X | Helix use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helix Sharpening (Vulture) | +150 Sweep toward Helix Trees | 48 Rare shards | Largest new tree-specific flat source; one level-I shard is also sold for 25 Miria’s Coupons |
| Echo of Sharpening + Echo of Echoes (Gecko + Tiamat) | Makes Helix Sharpening 30% stronger, adding up to +45 effective Sweep | 48 Rare + 24 Legendary shards | Raises the three-attribute Helix package from +150 to +195 |
| Diurnal Animal (Groundhog) | +10 Sweep during the day | 96 Common shards | Conditional flat Sweep |
| First Sweep (Torrid) | First Sweep on each tree is 10% more effective | 48 Rare shards | Front-loads each new tree |
| Tough Claws (Grizzly Bear) | Reduce tree Toughness by 1 each time you cut it | 24 Legendary shards | Effective Sweep through repeated cuts, not a displayed Sweep stat |
Legacy attributes still matter: Nocturnal Animal X gives +10 at night, Strong Arms X gives +30 on throws, Strong Legs X gives +30 on melee, and Unity is Strength scales with your unlocked Common Attributes. Fig and Mangrove Sharpening do not apply to Helix Trees.
Use the live Sweep upgrade calculator
The BazaarPro Sweep calculator presents the Helix-relevant sources in progression order and keeps incompatible pets and belts separate. Its dedicated page also compares how Sweep affects Fig, Mangrove and Helix Trees. It calculates:
- Miria’s and Agatha’s Coupon costs from Hypixel’s live Bazaar API;
- tradeable shard, booster and enchant costs from live Bazaar instant-buy offers, with fixed currencies shown for non-tradeable upgrades such as Morning Dew;
- gear and pet estimates from current lowest-BIN auctions;
- selected global flat Sweep, conditional Sweep, tree-specific Sweep and percentage effects as separate totals.
Auction estimates are not appraisal-grade: the cheapest listing can have a different level, rarity, pet item, stars or booster state. A missing API price stays unavailable instead of silently becoming zero. For shard attributes, the calculator prices the full level-I shard quantity needed to syphon through X; if you already own a partial level, select the row for comparison but subtract your owned shards before buying.
Use the calculator’s order as a progression checklist, then compare cost per applicable Sweep inside the tier you are considering. A cheap conditional +10 that is active during your play window can beat an expensive always-on upgrade; +150 Helix Sharpening is powerful, but only after its 48-shard cost makes sense for the amount you actually chop.
What to do after the patch
- Claim the easier Safari and Bestiary milestones before buying anything.
- Re-test Veilshroom fishing and contest output; the patch changed both supply and pacing.
- Record your current Sweep and logs per melee hit or throw on the same Helix route.
- Finish free HOTF and milestone sources, then price coupon upgrades.
- Build the Helix Chopper/armor core and upgrade boosters in axe → armor → equipment order.
- Price Helix Sharpening, First Sweep and Tough Claws against the remaining hours you expect to chop.
- Re-test the identical route. Keep the upgrade only if the real gain justifies its live cost.
