Latest Hypixel SkyBlock Farming Trends (July 2026)
Last verified
The one change that reshaped farming this cycle is the May 2026 merge of pest farming and Harvest Feast rare-crop farming into a single strategy. On live version 0.26 (July 8, 2026), farming is currently one of the strongest low-effort money makers in the game, driven almost entirely by that merge and by the Overbloom stat that now governs it. This report leads with that merge, walks through Overbloom mechanics and money tiers, then covers Jacob's Contests, price movers to watch, and where the creator community still disagrees.
This report reflects live patch 0.26. The 0.26.1 farming rework (armor renames, Sprayonator changes) is currently alpha-only and has not shipped to live servers. Treat anything described as “upcoming” in this report as subject to change before release — see the Looking Ahead section below.
The headline trend: pests and Feast rare crops merged into one strategy
Before May 2026, players had to choose between two competing farming strategies: grind pests for pest-drop money, or farm rare Harvest Feast crops separately for Feast rewards. The May update collapsed that choice. Pests now have roughly a 15% chance to drop the in-season Feast rare crop when killed (field mice specifically drop it around 30% of the time), and to compensate for the extra value flowing through pest kills, every pest item drop rate was doubled across the board.
The practical result is that there is no longer a real decision to make between the two approaches. You farm pests the way you normally would, and rare Feast crops fall out as a byproduct of that same loop. This is why farming coins/hour figures jumped so sharply this cycle: players are effectively stacking two reward streams (pest drops plus rare-crop drops) on top of one grind instead of splitting their time between two separate ones.
The other important mechanical change bundled into this merge: rare-crop drop rate from both regular farming and from pests is now governed by Overbloom, not Farming Fortune. Farming Fortune still matters for raw crop yield, but it no longer touches your rare-crop odds. If your gear plan was built entirely around Fortune, it is now missing half the picture.
Overbloom 101: the stat that now runs rare-crop farming
Overbloom works on a simple formula: Chance = Base Chance × (1 + Overbloom / 100). In plain terms, every 1 point of Overbloom adds roughly +1% to your rare-crop drop rate, and 100 Overbloom doubles your base chance outright. Because it now sits underneath both pest drops and regular rare-crop farming, it has become the single highest-leverage stat to build around this patch.
Sources for Overbloom, roughly ordered from budget to BiS:
| Source | Value |
|---|---|
| Hedgehog pet | +35 Overbloom (vs pests) — budget entry point |
| Rose Dragon pet (level 200) | +40 Overbloom |
| Sunset armor enchant | ~+1 Overbloom per level, applied by day |
| Feast tool enchant | ~+2 Overbloom per level |
| Overpriced Drink reforge | +7 Overbloom, +25 Farming Fortune |
| Crop Eater shard | up to +20 Overbloom, depending on shard level |
| Freshly Baked accessory line | up to +5 Overbloom per tier |
| Refined chip | Jeff’s Garden reward, adds further Overbloom |
| Sun’s Grasp equipment | doubles Overbloom outright, caps Farming Fortune at 500; creator-cited ~3.1-3.2B coins |
Creators cite different theoretical maximums for a fully min-maxed Overbloom build — figures of roughly 204, 334 and 354 have all been mentioned in different breakdowns. The rough consensus is a ceiling near 334 without Sun’s Grasp and around 354 with it, but treat this as an approximate target rather than a hard cap, since sources disagree on which sub-sources stack and at what final level.
Money tiers: what farming actually pays right now
Coins/hour figures below are creator-reported and generally assume near-endgame gear (high Overbloom, strong Farming Fortune, and efficient routing). Treat them as ceilings to work toward, not guaranteed rates for a fresh farmer.
| Method | Coins/hour |
|---|---|
| Regular farming | 10-25M |
| Pest farming | 30-70M |
| Pest+Feast combined | ~100M |
| Greenhouse (passive, per day) | 20-100M/day |
Broken down: plain non-pest farming lands around 10–25M coins/hour. Dedicated pest farming pushes that to roughly 30–70M/hour. The combined pest+Feast strategy described above is what pushes the ceiling up to around 100M/hour, a figure cited by Xentyl for a fully optimized combined loop. Separately, passive Greenhouse mutation farming (letting mutations accumulate rather than actively grinding) is reported at roughly 20–100M/day depending on layout quality and how often you collect.
Gear-wise, the current best farming armor set is Helianthus, which requires Farming level 50 to use and costs roughly 240–400M coins to fully upgrade. That is a meaningful investment, so most players will want to be already earning at the pest-farming tier before committing to a full Helianthus upgrade path.
Because mutation layouts compound over time, it pays to plan them ahead of time rather than placing crops ad hoc. Community tools like skymutations.eu and eliteskyblock.com are commonly used by creators for mutation layout planning and Fortune/Overbloom build audits alongside the live market tools linked in this report.
Jacob’s Contests: timing your rare-crop stockpile
Jacob’s Contests run every 40 minutes, cover 3 crops each time, and give you a 20-minute window to submit. Gold medal (top 10) is achievable through normal farming, especially with the Finnegan perk boosting your submission. Platinum and diamond medals are a different story: the most reliable way to reach those tiers is to stockpile crops from Greenhouse mutation farming and time your submission to land during a contest window, rather than trying to out-farm the leaderboard in real time.
This is where the pest/Feast merge and Greenhouse planning intersect: a well-timed Greenhouse harvest right before a contest window gives you both a large raw-crop submission and a batch of rare crops accumulated passively, without needing to actively farm during the contest itself.
Price movers to watch
The prices and demand signals below reflect the post-merge market as observed in the weeks after the May 2026 update. Bazaar and BIN prices move fast — verify current numbers on SkyCofl bazaar or SkyCofl top movers before acting on anything here.
After the pest/Feast merge, most Harvest Feast crafting materials crashed in price as the two farming economies consolidated and supply of rare crops increased. A handful of items bucked that trend and kept rising, because real, ongoing demand backs them:
- Salted Sunflower Seeds — stayed in demand because they craft the Disco Destination spawner, a recipe players keep buying into regardless of the broader Feast-material crash.
- A Gordion — crafted from Turbo Gourd, and used to upgrade Turbo-crop enchant tiers, so demand tracks ongoing Fortune/Overbloom build progression rather than one-off event completion.
- Crystallized Moonlight / Moon Dew — these attract the Lunar Moth, which is currently the only source of the Sunset ultimate enchant (the same enchant that feeds Overbloom, see above). Price kept rising even after the event window closed, because the enchant demand is structural, not event-driven.
- Feast Books — buffed roughly 4x in the update, now trading around 4M coins, reflecting both the direct buff and increased demand for Feast progression post-merge.
The common thread: items tied to a repeatable build requirement (enchant upgrades, spawner crafting, ongoing Overbloom progression) held or gained value, while items tied purely to the old one-time event grind lost it. Use BazaarTracker demand and BazaarTracker smart to confirm which farming materials are still moving before you stock up, and check Skyblock.bz crash risk if a price looks unusually inflated.
Where the experts disagree
Not every farming question has a settled answer this cycle. Three disagreements worth knowing about before you commit to a build or a crop:
Xentyl argues Wheat is now the best endgame money crop, because its faster break speed triggers pest and rare-crop RNG more often per minute than slower crops, and the pest/Feast merge amplifies that advantage. Older guides and wiki-style sources still favor Melon on raw Fortune-scaled yield. Both are defensible depending on whether you weight raw yield or event-driven RNG hits higher — try both at your own gear level before locking in.
Nitroze’s post-merge take is that the change made pest farming unambiguously better for everyone. Asxent’s earlier commentary cautioned that pest farming needs quality-of-life mods to be worth the effort for an average player without heavy optimization. Asxent’s caveat predates the May merge, so it may no longer reflect current value now that pest kills also feed rare-crop drops — treat it as a pre-merge data point rather than current guidance.
As noted above, the community has not converged on one maximum Overbloom figure. Until a clearer consensus forms, budget your build around the sources you can realistically afford rather than chasing an exact theoretical cap.
Looking ahead: the 0.26.1 alpha rework
An alpha build of patch 0.26.1 is already circulating with a farming-focused rework: renamed farming armor pieces (Farmhand, Haymaker, Sprout and Tater have been floated as the new names) and changes to the Sprayonator’s nozzle mechanics. None of this is live yet, and alpha naming/mechanics regularly change before release, so do not plan long-term gear purchases around it. For a closer look at what is currently in the alpha build, see the sibling Hypixel SkyBlock 0.26.1 alpha preview.
Practical takeaway
If you take one thing from this report: stop treating pest farming and rare-crop farming as separate goals. Build Overbloom alongside your existing Farming Fortune gear, farm pests as your default loop, and let rare Feast crops and Jacob’s medals come out of that same session instead of running two grinds in parallel. Layer Greenhouse mutation stockpiling on top for contest timing, and keep an eye on the structurally-demanded materials above rather than the ones that crashed with the old event economy.
